Obituary of Ruth Thomas

Ruth Thomas 85 of Port Murray NJ, died on March 23, 2007 in the Care Center of Lopatcong in Lopatcong Twp NJ She was born in Karrville NJ September 16, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Miller and Florence Smart Thomas. She was a 1937 graduate of Hackettstown High School in Hackettstown NJ. She was a graduate of Montclair Teachers College, which is now Montclair State University. From 1942-1946 she was employed in the Engineering Dept. Of Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors in Bloomfield and Linden NJ. For 24 years she was employed by Bankers National Life insurance Company of Montclair and Parsippany where for 18 years was secretary to the Company President, John D. Brundage (during that time Mr. Brundage was Chairman of the board of the American Heart Association) For 5 years, was Personal Manager of Annin & Co. in Verona NJ leaving in 1977 to return to Port Murray NJ Was last employed at Bates Manufacturing Co., Hackettstown NJ retiring in 1987. Memberships:For more than 70 years was a member of the Abundant Life Community Church in Port Murray NJ (formerly the Mansfield Baptist Church) She served many years as Sunday School Teacher, Teacher in Vacation Bible School, Pioneer Girls Leader, Treasurer of the Golden Agers Senior Citizen Club and as Church Treasurer for more than 10 years. She was a member of Mansfield Senior Citizen’s Club and a former member of the evening Dept. of the Verona Woman’s Club. Services: A Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday at 11AM in the Abundant Life, Church Cherry Tree Lane, Port Murray NJ. Family and Friends are invited to pay respects on Tuesday Morning from 10-11AM in the Church. Committal Service will follow in the Port Murray Cemetery.
