Obituary of Dorothy Heinrich

Dorothy M. Heinrich entered the gates of heaven peacefully on January 15, 2007, surrounded by her loving children. Dorothy was born in Broadway, NJ on February 17, 1918, a daughter of the late Howard and Tamzon Deremer Hoppock. She lived almost her entire life in Broadway. At the age of 85 she moved into the home of her daughter, Linda, in Washington. Most recently she was a resident of the Brakeley Park Care Center in Lopatcong Twp, NJ. Dorothy was a graduate of the Washington High School class of 1936. Her class was the first group of students to complete all four years in the new high school building. She was married over 60 years to her late husband, John, who died on April 23, 2001. Dorothy was a 74 year member fo the Broadway United Methodist Church, where for many years she greeted all new faces that came to worship with her wonderful welcoming smile. She belonged to and served as a former treasurer to the Methodist Women’s Society, and was a member of the Franklin Township Senior Citizens. Dorothy enjoyed attending church, winters in Florida and in her younger years, square dancing. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her wonderful personality. Our traditional Tuesday night dinners, family gatherings and holiday parties will never be the same without Mom. Survivors: Dorothy is survived by a son, John, Jr., and his wife Carole of Washington; three daughters, Elaine Slocum of West Allenhurst, NJ; Linda Heinrich of Washington; Brenda Higgins and her husband, Robert, of Washington Township; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A son, Brian Heinrich, a volunteer firefighter, died on May 29, 1980 while fighting a fire in Washington Boro. Also preceding her in death were five brothers: Clifford, Edward, Theodore, Kenneth, and Ernest Hoppock, and a sister, Hazel Hoppock. Services: Will be held in the Broadway United Methodist Church, 2233 Route 57, Broadway, NJ at 11:00 am on Saturday. Visitation: 2-4pm and 7–9pm on Friday at the DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Avenue, Washington. Interment will be at the Montana Cemetery, Harmony Township.
