Obituary of Geraldine Person

Geraldine E. Person, age 92, of Bethlehem Township, NJ, formerly of Washington, NJ, passed away on January 28, 2011, at Triumph Healthcare/Easton Hospital. Gerry was born on November 22, 1918, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Christina (nee Krawczak) Burrows, Port Murray, NJ. She held many jobs during her lifetime; all of which to help to support her family, which was always foremost to her. She was kind, honest and sincere, hardworking, patriotic, had a quick wit and a good sense of humor and also a style and an artistic flair which set her apart. From one who could not, as she said, boil water when she first married, she became an awesome, creative cook; in her later years, a devotee of the Food Network. She will be greatly missed; there are many, many fond memories to cherish. Of late, she was a member of the Penn-Jersey Chapter #74 of the Women’s Army Corps Veterans Association and also a Charter Member of the Women’s Veteran Memorial, Washington, D.C. She had proudly served in the Army WAAC and Army WAC, during WW II, attaining the rank of T-4 Sergeant; last working in the Army S-2 office (McNair Hall Admin Building, Fort Sill, OK). She received the American Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WAAC Service Medal. She was a graduate of the Army Administration School. She is survived by her son, Hank Anderson and wife, Marilyn, CT; daughter, Daryl Hoffmann, NJ; two stepdaughters: Linda Larson and husband, Steve, CA; Susan Biller and husband, Jim, PA; and grandchildren: Michael and Eric Anderson, Krista Okerholm; and, step grandchildren, Noah Larson and Aaron Biller; and, great-grandchild, Lilli Bard Anderson; three sisters: Anna B. Davidson, Washington, NJ; Billie Willson, Hackettstown, NJ; and, Marie Ackerman, Washington, NJ, and a cousin, Jo Krawczak Thomas, Hackettstown, NJ,Peggy Lou Burrows Reed, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harold L. Anderson, passed away in May 1978; and, her husband, Raymond R. Person, passed away in December 2010. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
