Obituary of Charlotte Fels

Charlotte Fels, 93, of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born on December 7, 1918 in New York City, NY. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Eva (nee Silberstein) Klein. Charlotte earned a B.A. in French from Hunter College and is a graduate of the Teachers' Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary. She was happily married to Laurence Fels for more than 50 years. In recent years, she was an active member of the Jewish Center of Northwest New Jersey, where she taught Hebrew to adults. She also wrote and published her autobiography under the title "This Is My Story." Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Larry in 1999, her brother Abraham J. Klein in 2006, and her sister Sophie Paul in 2002. She is survived by her sister, Anne Robinson, by her nieces, Tammy Mitchell and Naomi Grob, and by many, many people who considered her godmother, favorite aunt, and beloved friend. A service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Jewish Center of Northwest Jersey, 115 Younmans Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. A burial will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 11:00 a.m. at Spruce Run Cemetery, Glen Gardner, NJ. The DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. has been entrusted with her arrangements.
