Obituary of David Broderick

David J. Broderick, 73, of Washington Township, Warren County, NJ, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Easton Hospital. Born: He was born in Jersey City, NJ, on May 16, 1936, a son of the late Edward Sr. and Helen Grady Broderick. Personal: He was a NY/NJ Port Authority Police Officer for over 20 years, stationed mostly at Kennedy Airport. Since retiring, he had worked as a Postal Carrier out of the Washington, NJ, Post Office. He graduated from Jersey City High School and attended Staten Island Community College. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He and his wife, Phyllis, enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to dog shows to show their beagles and English Spaniels. Memberships: He was a member of Morris Hills Dog Training Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife, the former Phyllis Gugliemini; two daughters, Donna Skala of Saylorsburg and Lynda Kreuser and her husband Kenneth of Wappinger Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Ryan D. Kreuser of Poughkeepsie NY, Elyse M. Kreuser of Wappinger Falls and Dean M. Skala of Saylorsburg; a brother William Broderick and his wife Jane of Arlington, NJ; and a sister Helen Burns and her husband Robert of Bloomington Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by three brothers, Edward Jr., Gerald and Alan; and two sisters, Barbara Broderick McFadden and Margaret Z. Broderick. Services: A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Academy Street, Oxford NJ. The visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. Cremation will follow in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.
