Obituary of Denise Marie Anthony

Denise Marie Anthony, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on April 21, 2026.

Born on May 7, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, Denise was the beloved daughter of Concetta Stagnitta and Thomas Lafaman. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and education—values that shaped the rest of her life.

Denise was a graduate of Kean University. She went on to build a meaningful career as an English teacher, sharing her love of literature and learning with generations of students.

On April 6, 1974, Denise married the love of her life, Russell A. Anthony. Together they built a strong and loving family that remained at the center of her life.

A woman of deep faith, Denise was a devoted member of the Catholic community at St. Joseph’s Church. She gave generously of her time as a CCD teacher and served as an advocate with DASSAC, always seeking ways to help others and strengthen her community.

Denise found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, reading, traveling, and camping with her family. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with those she loved most.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Russell A. Anthony; her daughter Victoria Bellantoni and her husband John A. Bellantoni; her son Russell John Anthony and his wife,  Lauren P. Anthony. Denise was also the proud and loving grandmother of five wonderful grandchildren: Rusty, Summer, Michael, Gianna, and Mason, who brought immense happiness to her life.

Denise was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Concetta Lafaman.

Her warmth, generosity, faith, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always. Denise’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched—as a teacher, volunteer, friend, and most importantly, as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in her memory.
