Obituary of George Martin Wilson Jr.

George Martin Wilson Jr. passed away on May 12 th 2026 after a short illness, following a decline. He was 84 years old
George, who was known to family and friends as “Binky”, was born on February 2 nd 1942 in Newark. He attended Linden High School.

With his late wife Carol (nee Havranek) he became a resident of Warren County around 1978. He and Carol were best known in Warren County as the proprietors of the “Roaring Rock” restaurant (formerly known as Lundy’s Tavern) at Hartman’s Corner in Washington, NJ

George was preceded in death by both of his parents (George Sr &; Mildred), his sister Melissa and Carol, who passed away in 2022.

George’s education included an associate degree from Union College followed by employment at Allied Signal, Union Carbide and Warner Lambert. George was a professional in pilot and process development before becoming a restauranteur in 1988. As a young man, George pursued his interest in music and was an accomplished jazz drummer with several bands. George had extensive stories of his time as a studio musician backing known stars during the 60’s. He was also a skilled metal fabricator working with copper.
