Obituary of Thomas Rollins

Thomas J. Rollins, Jr. died Monday, November 3, 2008 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ. Thomas was born on January 2, 1952 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Thomas James Rollins, Sr. and Dessie Ree Rollins. Tom graduated Warren Hills High School in 1970. Tom enjoyed spending time with his friends playing ball and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed hunting with his father. The three of them were a close family. They enjoyed community cookouts around the holidays. Tom was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. He often attended the Deliverance Evangelistic Center also located in Newark, NJ. Tom followed in his father’s footsteps by working as a Longshoreman in Port Newark. The two had worked closely together. After 11 years f working at the Port, Tom Jr. became ill. Thomas leaves his mother, Dessie Ree, of Port Murray, to cherish his memory; his god-sister, Eugenie Murrell, of Easton, PA; LC Berry, of California; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His father, Thomas J. Rollins, Sr. passed away earlier. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 2 pm in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ, family and friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
