James La Viola

Obituary of James La Viola

James Adam LaViola, age 70, of East Stroudsburg, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 12, 2023.  Born April 19, 1953, in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Donald and Audrey Jason.

James was a 1971 graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School. Earlier in his career, James served as President of Elastolatch as well as President of Wilderness Wisdom Technologies.  Later on, James became a CDL truck driver. He was the proud father of Robert and Keri, whom he adored.

James was a true outdoorsman, enjoying all nature had to offer. He had a passion for hunting, founding the Hindsight Hunting Company.  He was a gun enthusiast and a member of the NRA.  James had multiple patents in his name, including one for a hunting mirror and one for a gun lock.  James was a talented archer.  Back in 1968, James shot 6th in the nation using a broken arrow in an archery competition, just short of qualifying for the Olympics. James was also an avid fisherman.

When he wasn't enjoying the outdoors, James could often be found dirt bike riding as well as motorcycle riding. He was known for his cooking, which his family often enjoyed. Most of all, James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Keirdan Casey, whom he took great joy in.  James was a dedicated father, who worked tirelessly to raise his two children single-handedly.

James will be forever missed by his brother, Todd Jason; daughter, Keri Coyle; son-in-law, John Coyle; and grandson, Keirdan Casey. He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Audrey Jason; sister, Linda MacAdam; and his son, Robert LaViola.

James is in the care of Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home, 142 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Services will be to be determined at a later date.
