Obituary of Melody Marie Murphy

Melody M. Murphy, 71, of Washington, New Jersey passed away peacefully at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey on March 14^th, 2024. Melody was born January 13^th, 1953 to the late Louise and Clifford Shoemaker. Melody was raised in Kingwood Township, New Jersey along with her sisters Linda and Shelly. Melody graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1971. Melody was a loving mother to her daughter the late Jolene LaBar who tragically passed away in 2008.  She was married to the love of her life John Murphy and together they have shared the last 30 years together. For over 20 years Melody worked for Maschio’s Food Service in the cafeteria of Warren Hills Middle School and was known and loved by all of the students and faculty. Melody didn’t have a mean bone in her body and could laugh and talk with anyone like they had been friends their whole lives. Melody and John would sit on their porch on sunny days and be constantly honked at by family, friends, and everyone she touched throughout her life and that always brought a smile to her face. She may not have always known who was in the car but she always felt the love that she knew was being shared.

Melody will be forever missed by her beloved husband John Murphy, sister Linda Bucior, cousin Elaine Dunning, Cousin Bert Cornell, and by her nieces; Nora Wright, Nicole Murphy, Amanda Minich, and Lisa Paul.

Melody is predeceased by her mother Louise Shoemaker and father Clifford Shoemaker, sister Shelly Shoemaker, and daughter Jolene LaBar.
