Obituary of William Douglas Cowie

William Douglas “Doug” Cowie loved and served his King every day of his stay on this earth and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 21, 2015. Doug was a resident of Franklin Township, Warren County, NJ and a part time resident of Sandusky Ohio. Doug was born on May 20, 1932 to William A. and Vera (Walker) Cowie in Arlington, New Jersey. He graduated from Union High School and served in the US Army and Army Reserve. He is a veteran of the Korean War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Structural Engineering from NJIT and retired from The Austin Company of Cleveland, OH. He earned a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. He was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and was currently serving as Pastor at Emmanuel Christian Center in Phillipsburg, NJ. He formerly ministered with Cornerstone and Focus One Ministries in the Caribbean and South America. He was the author of the book Acts 29: The Ministry of Peter Hakim Hosein (of Trinidad) which was recently published. He was the “spouse of the house” to the “wife of his life” of 58 years, Jo Anne C. (Reeves) Cowie, a son Brian Cowie and his wife Kimberly of Sandusky, Ohio and two granddaughters he adored, Jessica (Cowie) Yonek and her husband Zachary and Megan Cowie. He is also survived by his brother, Charles T. Cowie and his wife Joan of Franklin, NC; his mother-in-law Connie Reeves; his brother-in-law Wayne T. Reeves of Belvidere, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Roderick B. Cowie Donations may be made in his memory to The Emmanuel Christian Center PO Box 5113 Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A Viewing will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6-8:30 pm at the Faith Discovery Church 33 Brass Castle Road Washington, NJ 07882. A Funeral will be held on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 10 AM also at the Faith Discovery Church. The DeVoe Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
