Obituary of Clement Emery

Clement G. Emery, 88, of Annandale, NJ died peacefully in the arms of Jesus, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Country Arch Care Center of Union Township, NJ. Born October 1, 1921 in Buttzville, Warren County, NJ he was a son of the late Edward and Anna Kelly Emery. He was the husband of the late Florence Cassidy Emery who died in 1983. Clem was an Army veteran of World War II, participating in the European Theater, achieved rank of Staff Sergeant. He loved his county and served with pride. He was an employee of Hunterdon Lumber Co. in Annandale. Clem was a dedicated, loyal and trusted employee for over 50 years. Clem was a member of the Annandale Reformed Church. He was also a volunteer fireman for Annandale Hose Co. He served as an active fireman for 27 years and as an exempt member for the past 16 years, for a total of 43 years. He was also an exempt member of the New Jersey State Fireman’s Relief Assn. In 2003 Clem, along with 375 other Hunterdon County Veterans, received the first Hunterdon County Veterans Recognition medal. The Board of Chosen Freeholders awarded this medal recognizing service to his country. Clem will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his long-time companion, Adral (Honey) Hoffman, and her family. His daughter, Nancy and her husband, Michael Gasparetti, of Phillipsburg, NJ; daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Charles Riddle; son, Clement Randall, and his wife Barbara Emery; son, Robert, and his wife, Carrie Emery, all of Annandale, NJ; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his brother, Edward, and sisters, Louise, Nancy, Katherine, Anna and Helen. Clem’s loved ones would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Country Arch for the compassionate care Clem received there for the past 2 years. Calling hours will be Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 pm at DeVoe Funeral Services, Inc., 136 W. Washington Ave., Washington NJ 07882. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Summerfield Cemetery, White Township, NJ.
