Obituary of Ruby Apgar

Ruby Castner Apgar 102 of Washington NJ, died Wednesday August 12th in Warren Haven where she had been a guest for several years. Ruby was born in Changewater NJ November 23, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Augusta and Elsie Burdge Castner. Ruby was the wife of the late Harry Apgar, former Police Chief for Washington NJ. Among her many interests, Ruby enjoyed knitting, crocheting, taking care of her yard, deer hunting, baking, and writing poetry. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washington NJ and a Past President of the Ladies Auxillary of the Washington Fire Department. Surviving are her sister Jennie Dickson of Glen Gardner NJ, nieces, Lois Fry of Rehoboth Beach De., Jean VanPelt of Carteret NJ, Shirley Swenson of Tunkhannock PA, and Elsie Tilley of Washington NJ, nephews Richard Dickson of Glen Gardner NJ and William V.Castner of Washington NJ In addition to her loving husband, she is predeceased by brothers William & Carl Castner and a sister Agnes Doscher. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Wednesday August 19th at 1 PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
