Obituary of Robert Zimmer

Robert Zimmer, 63, of Phillipsburg, NJ, formerly of Washington, NJ died suddenly on September 7, 2008 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Robert was born January 8, 1945 in Easton, PA a son of the late Walter and the late Charolette (Cox) Zimmer. He and his wife, Linda Marie Poch Zimmer, were married for 40 years. Robert served in the US National Guard. He was employed as a lineman with Verizon for 35 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid motorcyclist. He loved his trucks. Robert especially loved spending time with his family. He was a very active member with St. Luke's Lutheran Church, assisting the church by cutting the grass when necessary. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Linda of Phillipsburg, NJ, he is survived by a son, John Zimmer and his wifeTricia of Stewartsville, NJ; a daughter, Wendy Nixon and her husband Brian of Lopatcong Township, NJ; a brother Larry Zimmer of Washington, NJ; a sister-in-law Georgine Zimmer of Washington, NJ; a sister Joanne Tharp of Stewartsville, NJ; three grandchildren Amber, David and Brady and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Robert was predeceased by his brother, Lonnie Zimmer. Services: Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 214 State Route 31 North, Washington, NJ. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 12:00 pm at the church. Private cremation will follow at the HG Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.
