Obituary of Russell Alpaugh

Russell S. Alpaugh Jr, 83, of Karrville, NJ died March 11, 2007. He resided in Karrville, Mansfield Twp for 58 years. He was employed for 31 years as maintenance machinist for the American Can Company in Washington, NJ. Prior to the American Can Company, he was employed for 10 years as a pumpman on Exxon tankers in the Merchant Marines. He also was Tax Assessor in Mansfield Twp for 26 years. He served in the Navy from 1942 until 1946 in the Pacific Campaign earning 4 bronze stars. He was educated in Greenwich Twp School and Phillipsburg High School, and also received his C.T.A. Certificate from Rutgers. He was the son of the late Russell S. and Wilhelmina Fus Alpaugh. Memberships:He was a charter member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Washington, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6701, Washington. He was secretary-treasurer of the Clark C. Willever Society of the Mansfield Township Emergency Squad. Survivors: He is survived by his wife Margaret Wolfe Alpaugh; Son, Richard and wife Nancy of Karrville; and Granddaughters Amy & Alyssa, and Grandson Andrew. A Brother Kenneth died in 1990. He and his wife were married 52 years. Services: There will be no calling hours, and the services and burial in the Easton Cemetery, Easton, PA, will be private and handled by the DeVoe Funeral Services, Inc. Washington, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on March 24, 2007 at 2:00pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 31, Washington, NJ.
