Obituary of Michele Ross
Michele Ross, 61, a lifetime resident of Asbury, New Jersey passed away at her home on October 22, 2024. Michele was born at Warren Hospital in 1962 to the late Nancy Goerner. Michele grew up in Asbury with her family. She was a loving daughter; and a great sister to her 5 siblings. At the age of 15 Michele became a mother and took on the most amazing role of her life… a fulltime mom. On July 24th, 1983, Michele married the love of her life, Joseph Ross, and together they raised their family in Asbury. She was very proud of the family her and her husband, Joe, raised.
Michele had a beautiful, sweet soul and was the heart of her family. Often shy and quiet at first until you got to know her. She enjoyed going to Bingo, playing the lottery, going out with her cousins and dancing. She would give you the shirt off her back and would open her home to anyone that needed a place to stay or a nice hot meal. She took her children as they grew up to their great-grandparents’ house every weekend to play with their cousins. Family was very important to Michele, she instilled that in her children. Her family was often admired for that.
Michele absolutely loved and adored her family, especially her beloved grandchildren who referred to her as “Nanny”. Nanny was always there and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and do what they love. She would do anything for her grandkids and couldn’t say no to them. She loved having sleep overs/swearing parties with them and “what happened at Nanny’s stayed at Nanny’s”. Sitting around her kitchen table was the best, it was always filled with laughter and love. She loved hosting holidays, entertaining and feeding everyone that walked through the door. Sweets were her favorite. She loved going shopping and getting up early on Saturday mornings for yard sales. Michele loved decorating the interior of her house along with decorating for the holidays.
She started a family tradition of taking her children to Seaside Heights every July for a family vacation, which became her grandchildren’s favorite vacation. Seaside week was filled with laughs and lots of family. Hence why it’s her grandchildren’s “favorite” vacation.
Michele will be forever missed by her father Richard Henderson and his wife Barb, son Joseph Ross and his wife Connie, daughter Rachael Rhinehart, daughter Kerri Deets and her husband Drew, daughter Nancy Ross and her Fiancé Dan Willis, brothers Rod and Robert Goerner, sisters Tammy Maguire, Renee Golovko, and Stacy Goerner and by her grandchildren Ally, Ava, Rylee, Joey, Danny, Davey, Drew, Mason, Bella, and Emmerson, and her dog Dolly and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Michele is predeceased by her husband Joe, mother Nancy Goerner, and her dog Matti Ross.
Graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 1:00PM at the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 455 Old Main Street, Asbury NJ 08802.
