Obituary of Joseph Richard Conroy
Joseph Richard Conroy, age 88, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Warren Haven Care Center. Born on November 23, 1935, in Hoboken, NJ, Joe was the beloved son of the late Raymond Leida and Burnetta Conroy.
Joe spent his childhood on the family farm in Washington, NJ, where he learned the values of hard work and dedication that would define his life. A graduate of Warren Hills High School, Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, exemplifying his commitment to service.
With an exceptional work ethic, Joe dedicated his career to serving his community, working as a meter reader for Elizabethtown Gas and also contributing to the operations of the Grand Union Supermarket in Hackettstown, NJ. Known for his sharp sense of humor and infectious laughter, Joe brought joy to those around him, always eager to share a joke or a smile.
Joe was an avid supporter of Philadelphia sports teams and found great enjoyment in bowling, a hobby he cherished. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, who will always remember him for his warmth, humor, and enduring love.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Conroy, his sons, Joseph M. Conroy and Michael Conroy, his daughter, Rose Burke, and his cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Ethan Conroy, and Zachary and Matthew Clark.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:00AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mount Airy Road in Basking Ridge, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Washington, NJ.
Joe’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
